Eilish Wilson

Saxophonist and Music teacher in Wellington

Kia ora! I’m Eilish Wilson, a saxophonist and music teacher based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), Aotearoa.

Since graduating from the New Zealand School of Music at the end of 2015, I've worked consistently throughout New Zealand and abroad. Highlights include playing at the Monterey Jazz Festival with the Rodger Fox Big Band, and recording albums at the legendary United Studios (L.A) & at the acclaimed Bunker Studios in Brooklyn, New York City. In summer 2021, I went on tour with Trinity Roots, which was an incredible experience to say the least.

I perform with a variety of bands and collectives, including Newtown Rocksteady, Raw Collective, Dr. Reknaw, The Wellington Mingus Ensemble, and most recently Fun ⅋ Funner.

People who inspire me include Kae Tempest, Cécile McLorin Salvant & Melissa Aldana.

When I'm not busy with music, I love taking film photography, going on road trips & skiing with my mates.

I want this song played at my funeral.
